There are more slaves in the world today than ever before. Did you realize that many victims of trafficking started their horrendous journey as a willing, but illegal migrant? Out of desperation, many victims originally promised to pay someone to smuggle them across borders and get them a job. The job turns out to be indentured labor. They end up endlessly paying their bosses, and not going to the police for help because technically, they violated immigration law.
